Miguel Bosé to receive Latin Recording Academy honor

Miguel Bosé has been named the 2013 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year for his philanthropic and professional accomplishments.

The Spanish singer, author and actor will be honored at a benefit gala Nov. 20 in Las Vegas, a day before the 14th annual Latin Grammy Awards.

In a career spanning three decades, Bosé has recorded more than 30 albums and appeared in more than 35 films. Among his hit singles are Anna, Salamadra, Te Amaré, Sevilla, Como Un Lobo and Si Tu No Vuelves.

He's collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Gloria Gaynor, Juanes, Ricky Martin, Paulina Rubio, Alejandro Sanz, Shakira and Michael Stipe. Bosé won a Latin Grammy for his 2001 album Sereno.

He's being recognized for his many charitable donations and activities, including the peace efforts of his Foundation Paz Sin Fronteras (Peace Without Borders) and his work for Fight Against AIDS.

Previous recipients include Plácido Domingo, Gloria Estefan, Vicente Fernandez, Juan Luis Guerra, Carlos Santana, Shakira and Caetano Veloso.
