Premio Lo Nuestro 2013: Latino Stars Celebrate Music In An Unforgettable Night
Big Latino stars, tons of good music and unforgettable moments made up the 25th anniversary of "Premio Lo Nuestro 2013” aired on Univision on Thursday. It was a night worth remembering.
With a presentation recalling all the great artists who had passed through the award ceremony's stage since its beginning, the Dominican singer Juan Luis Guerra kicked off the evening with some of his best songs making the audience dance from the start.
Hosted by actress Ninel Conde and singer Pedro Fernandez, the public was also able to enjoy performances by popular Latin artists like Pitbull, Victor Manuelle, Romeo Santos, Jesse & Joy, Thalia, Prince Royce and Carlos Vives among others.
One of the most anticipated moments was the comeback of Puerto Rican Robi "Draco" Rosa, who has been absent from the public eye recovering from a cancer condition for the past years. This time he chose to do a duo accompanied by long-time friend Ricky Martin. They sang the hit song "Más y Más."
The first prize was awarded to late singer Jenni Rivera for "Best female pop singer." Her daughters, Chiquis and Jenika received the honor, they took the time to thank her fans for all the support.
The award to "Premio Lo Nuestro Artist" also went to Rivera, and this time her daughter Jenika dedicated it to the families of the people who accompanied the “Diva of the Banda” on the day when the plane where she was traveling crashed in Mexico last December.
But what definitely shuddered the audience was the tribute made to the Mexican artist by the voices of female singers like Olga Tañón and Shaila Durcal, who among others gathered to remember some of her biggest hits. The performance closed with the moving participation of her own brother Lupillo Rivera who tearfully sang, “Te Extrañaré” ("I'll miss you”.)
